Collection of Works
This year's Kids and Teen show is a combined effort, featuring dance performances from some of Auckland's top dance studios. From tots to teens, students from Mt Eden Ballet, Touch Compass Youth Company, East Auckland Performing Arts, Pointy Dog Dance and The Dance Studio strut their stuff through ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop dance styles.
The Kids & Teen show is designed to showcase the best of youth dance in Auckland, and this year's line up is no exception. Mt Eden Ballet Academy return with a selection of solo and group works, including award-winning soloists Olivia James-Baird, Brooke Ray and Tom McClintock. Mixed ability company Touch Compass Youth performs Embedded, an award-winning group work choreographed by Sue Cheesman and Suzanne Cowan. Ichiro Harada's Movie Night is a play on all things cinematic (from popcorn to horror movie screams), performed by Dance Unlimited from the East Auckland Performing Arts School. Pointy Dog from the Performing Arts School of New Zealand offer a new contemporary work, and it's time to up the tempo with a high-energy hip hop performance by students of the The Dance Studio.
High energy and exuberance stream out of these charming performers - tremendous fun for the dancers and audience alike.

The seamless blending of movements by and between company members is both beautiful and uplifting and reinforces the undeniable truth that dance is, and always has been, a natural means of expression for all.
