Originally from the US, Carrie Rae came to NZ in 2003 to earn her Masters degree in Dance Studies from the University of Auckland, working with local choreographers and performing in several dance, music and performance productions along the way. She produced the inaugural Auckland season of Short + Sweet Dance in 2012 and has created and produced a number of Fringe Festivals shows.
She also works with several local dance companies and artists including Atamira Dance Company, Michael Parmenter, New Zealand Dance Company and White Face Crew as a consultant for the development of new choreographed works and projects. In 2016 she produced an original dance performance event with choreographer Malia Johnston for the Auckland Tripartite Economic Summit, hosted by Auckland Council, involving dancers from Auckland, Los Angeles and Guangzhou.
Carrie Rae is mom to 3 vivacious girls and loves to play Scrabble, plant tomatoes and make dance films in her kitchen.
